30 years ago S2M pioneered the industrial production of magnetic bearings at its headquarters and research centre 80 kilometres west of Paris, creating a new industry and establishing its standard. Today S2M still leads the way in the development of these high-tech products for a wide range of applications across industry. MAGNETIC BEARINGS
S2M's bearings are used in a wide variety of applications, with rotors ranging in mass from hundreds of grams to several tons. Regardless of the difference in scale, the structure is the same and incorporates the same components: electromagnets, sensors, and servocontrol systems. From design to industrial production, from prototypes to mass produced units, these components are proven in millions of hours of operation in industrial machines. And S2M continues to invest in R&D: new control algorithms, new high-power components, new magnet materials, new configurations.

 

HIGH SPEED MOTORS
A new range of permanent magnet motor/generators complements the bearing range. Both are based on electromagnetic and servocontrol technology. The bearings support the rotor, which in turn is powered by the motor.
