Pm motors, pm generator - a part of S2M's success
Pm motors/ pm generator represent a new range of products which S2M has recently added to magnetic bearing, the company's main product line.
S2M pm motors/ pm generator development began 10 years ago. Responding to the needs of the machine tool industry, pm motors and pm generator technology replaced less efficient, lower speed asynchronous induction motors for grinding processes and copper tube grooving applications.
The S2M pm motors/ pm generator have available power ranges from 40 kW up to the state of the art 400 kW level. Today, more than 100 units operating at 40 kW/45,000 rpm have been supplied to the world wide copper tube industry. High speed milling spindles were also developed to target the aerospace industry.
Based on this experience (over 200 machines) and the confirmation of all system components, S2M has successfully applied this technology for turbomachine applications. Higher torque capability and reduced losses are ones of the major advantages of S2M PM technology regarding pm motors and pm generator for turbomachines.
